Dear Ms. Kumar, Thank you for inviting me to the opening of The Stories of Immigrant Women at the Saskatchewan Legislative.
I found your portraits to be a powerful reminder of the challenges faced by women immigrants. Including the stories of each woman added to the impact.
Congratulations for this show, and I wish you continual success with your art.
Yours truly, Thomas (The Lt. Governor of Saskatchewan His Honour the Honourable W. Thomas Molloy)

Madhu Kumar’s exhibition “Stories of Immigrant Women” makes a moving statement on newcomers in our society. The amazing canvasses portray women in their everyday personal environments, a snapshot in time. The paintings in very large format feel immediate and so real.

Each immigrant woman tells her own story of struggle, loneliness, fear, and hope. The need to be seen and heard! Emotions are very close to the surface. As we meet each person in story and portrait, we begin to appreciate their spirit, vulnerabilities, and honesty. These examples of determination and resilience are truly inspiring, and encourage viewers to imagine the human potential in us all.

Congratulations on this excellent body of work, Madhu! Your passion and vision for this creative project is a beautiful gift. Thank you for exhibiting at the Shurniak Art Gallery in Assiniboia this winter.

Dear Madhu: I feel a connection with the stories of these women. I am from Canada, but I feel like an immigrant in my own country, being a First nations woman who had to leave home to escape a violent husband and a suppression against women. There were many time I had to deal with racism when I was/am living in different places in Canada. This is not only myself who experience this in Canada , but also man other First Nations Women. Thank you! your paintings are beautiful! The stories are amazing!  The paintings stirred emotions and thoughts that I have denied for a long time and i appreciate the opportunity to be exposed to them and learn from them. Melissa Biro.

Thank you! the stories of the loneliness and strength of the women portrayed in your work resonated with my journeys as a single mom. that although i feel "alone", I am reminded by your work of other women who brave isolation to create a better life for themselves and their children. The beauty of these struggles and the importance of sharing these individual stories is very touching. L Shasko Mar 20,17.
